Terms

Terms of service.

The agreement between you and miya.life. Written to be read.

1. The service

miya.life provides a hosted personal organization system at app.miya.life. Accounts are personal; you are responsible for what happens under yours, including keeping your password safe.

Miya Money. The service includes Miya Money at money.miya.life, a separate application covered by these same terms and by the Money section of our privacy policy. Bank sync is an optional paid add-on there, billed per connected bank per month and charged when a bank is linked: it reads transactions and balances through Plaid and can never move money, and unlinking or switching it off ends both the access and the charge. With it off, figures are typed in or imported from an OFX or CSV file you download yourself, and there is no route to your accounts. Miya Money is a personal finance tool, not financial, tax or investment advice.

2. Trial and billing

New accounts include a 14-day free trial with no payment method required. After the trial, continued use requires a subscription: Solo at $9 per month or $79 per year. You may add other people to your subscription at $8 per month each, or $79 per year each on a yearly plan, charged on your own renewal date; each additional user receives their own separate account. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc.; by subscribing you also agree to Stripe's terms for payment processing. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and can be cancelled at any time from Settings → Billing; access continues through the period already paid for. If a paid subscription is unsatisfactory within its first 30 days, email support for a refund.

3. When a trial or subscription ends

Your account becomes read-only rather than being deleted at once, and you keep the ability to open and export your data. An account that is unpaid and has not been opened for three months then enters a closure process: we write to your registered address three times over about five weeks, each notice stating the expected closure date and how to export first. Opening the account at any point stops the process entirely and resets the clock. If it is still unopened after the third notice, the account and the files in it are deleted and cannot be recovered. Accounts that have ever held a paid subscription are excluded from automatic closure.

Files after a trial. If a trial ends and the account is not signed into again for two months, the uploaded files on it (photographs, video, documents) are removed to keep storage costs honest. Your records are not touched: notes, tasks, habits, entries and everything you typed remain, and stay exportable. We email you at least a week beforehand, name the date, and signing in once resets the clock. Accounts that have ever held a paid plan are exempt.

4. Your content

Everything you put into miya.life remains yours. You grant only the permission technically required to store it, sync it between your devices, back it up, and, when you ask a question of the assistant, process the relevant part of it to produce your answer. No ownership is claimed and nothing is sold.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use the service to break the law, to store material you have no right to hold, to attack or overload the infrastructure, or to resell access. Added people are for a household or the people close to you, not a business's user base. Accounts doing any of these can be suspended.

6. Availability

The service is provided as-is, without a formal uptime guarantee. Reasonable care is taken: backups run, and a weekly export is sent to you so a copy is always outside the system. Keep that copy.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, liability is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before a claim. miya.life is an organization tool, it is not medical, legal, financial or tax advice, and it is not a substitute for professional judgement or for a physician's instructions about medication.

8. Changes

These terms may change; material changes will be announced in the app and by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means accepting them. Prices do not change for an active subscription.

9. Who may hold an account

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 13 in any case. An account is personal to you. Sharing your password is not sharing the system: additional users exist precisely so that each person gets their own account and see only what you choose to share with them.

10. Talk: messages and calls between people

The system carries messages and voice or video calls between accounts. What you send is yours and what you receive belongs to the person who sent it. Using Talk to harass, threaten, deceive or send unlawful material is a breach of these terms, and an account used that way can be suspended. Report anything of the sort by email and it will be looked at.

Calls connect directly between devices wherever the network allows. Where it does not, an encrypted relay passes the stream through. Calls are not recorded and not stored.

11. Cancelling, refunds and deletion

  • Cancel any time from Settings. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for.
  • Nothing is charged during the free trial, and no payment method is asked for to start one.
  • Delete your account from Settings whenever you like. It removes the account and its contents.
  • If a charge is wrong, say so and it will be put right.

12. What belongs to whom

Your records, files and writing are yours. Nothing here transfers ownership of them, and nothing of yours is used to train a model. The software itself, the name and the design remain ours, and a subscription is permission to use the service, not a transfer of it.

13. The assistant, and its limits

The assistant answers from what you have put in, and it can be wrong. It is not a doctor, a lawyer, an accountant or a financial adviser, and nothing it says is professional advice. Check anything that matters, particularly medication, money and legal dates.

14. Warranty, plainly

The service is provided as it is. It is built with care and tested hard, but it is not promised to be uninterrupted or free of faults, and it is not promised to fit a purpose you have in mind for it. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose: export exists for exactly that.

15. Suspension and ending

You may stop at any time. An account may be suspended or closed where these terms are breached, where use endangers other people or the service, or where the law requires it. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, you will be told why and given a chance to export first.

16. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida in the United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Talk to us first: almost everything is solved by an email. Nothing here removes a consumer right you hold that cannot be waived where you live.
